Mom Update ~ October 17, 2016

I got Mom to the doctor for her update.  She now weighs 151 pounds which shows the significant weight loss ~ she weighed 186 on July 26th ~ so she has lost 35 pounds of fluid! Her legs look great!
Her arm looks red again and I truly believe it is because she is treating the itch with things like witch hazel (which she ordered on-line) and lotrimin, because I caught her doing that.  I told her today that I am going to start doing treatments on her arm and to only use Dove for Sensitive skin lotion, dove soap and polysporin and take away all that other stuff.
She got mad and told me that I could not take away anything that was hers!!!!
Ok.
She also told the doctor that the strange bumps were back on her head, that they would drain and be like glue ~ he looked and saw nothing.
And, she told the doctor that she had constant diarhearra that no one talked about and guess who gets to do the clean catch to test for C-diff.

Happy Days.

44 degrees????????

Apparently, not only did Hurricane Matthew cause the grass to grow in the back yard, it also brought a night-time temperature of 44 degrees!!!!!!!!!!!!! A 25 degree drop!!!! Well, who knew that was going to happen?

I didn't and my poor tropicals on the deck and porch may have had a very bad night!

So, I decide to bring some of the plants into the house and the majority of the plants on to the porch next to the house.

Once I started that, I realized I didn't like where the lamps were, so I moved them and of course I dusted.  Then I looked at the blinds and realized they hadn't been cleaned since who knows when, so I did those.

My porch doesn't look as pretty ~ I guess that is true of every end of season:

The huddled masses and my supervisors.
That was exhausting.  But, I am happy with where I am.

Fast Trip to Maryland

I  flew to Baltimore yesterday to go to a dear friend's mother's funeral.  I was going to have to drive myself to the airport but LUCKILY, Jim's trip to Myrtle Beach was canceled by Hurricane Matthew!

It was raining in Raleigh but when then airplane broke thru the clouds on the climb to cruising altitude, this was the view all the way to Maryland.

Nancy met me at baggage claim and we went right to the funeral home.  It was a lovely service ~ and we are glad that we were able to attend.

Then Nancy and I went to her home and had a great visit.  I also got to see Drew ~ he gets to work from home on Mondays and Fridays!  And, he loves his job and Nancy says the company LOVES him and his scope of knowledge for all facets of the job.  Plus, he has much less stress.

Of course, Nancy had some Halloween decorations up:

This should be holding candy, but cherry tomatoes are okay.

This holds the liqour.

Not a Halloween decoration ~ Nancy feeds this Turkey Buzzard!
Nancy has a soft spot for the animals ~ she has red foxes this year, a mother raccoon and her babies and this buzzard.  Nancy says the buzzard has invited friends, but they refuse the dog food and leave, but this guy comes every day!  The crows also partake ~ you can just see the crow behind the buzzard.

Nancy and Drew took me to the airport and I am back home to the very wet remnents of Hurricane Matthew.  We have had 5 inches + of water so far, it is windy and the big dogs only want to go out on a leash but the little dogs (Snoopy and Loki) go in and out at will and get soaked.  Infact, here is a wet black dog now shaking water everywhere!!!!!

Lori and Maren went to the Army-Duke game.  I do not imagine they will stay for the entire game.  But, you never know!!!!

Stay dry and stay safe!

Happy Fall

Nancy just sent us a lovely box to celebrate the beginning of fall.  She sent a ghost pumpkin with the Navy* insignia made at Annapolis Pottery and fancy gummie bears from Sugarfina.

You say "Gummie Bears?"  Yes, and these are infused with Whispering Angel Rose'.  And they are pretty darn good ~ and adult Gummie Bear, so to speak.

There is an 18,000 people waiting list for these adult bear candies.  I do thank Nancy for introducing me to the finer things in life.

More Notes

We are hosting Sunday dinner ~ and there will be a couple of "friends" coming to dinner. So, I like to have goodies.

And like the M&M's that are "hidden",

At least she is consistant.
