The Finished Back Yard

The guys are here working on the small patio.  Again, I am so excited!!!!!

I was resonsible for setting up the sprinklers because the new sod has to be REALLY watered ALOT for one week.  So, three sprinklers, three hoses and three timers.  The timers are set up to go off at 4am, 5am and 6am and then again 12 hours later.  And yes, it took me about an hour to get it all set up and set up correctly.

Sort of a giant puzzle.....

You can just see the border that they put in front of my raised bed

Finished product!
I put up the bird feeders, and tomorrow the guys are going to finish the sod.  Next up, putting out the whiskey barrels for the tomatoes.

Oh and celebrate Amy's birthday!!!!

Love,
Leslie

The Back Yard Work Begins

I am so excited!  The work has begun to put in the french drains in the back yard.  Along with that comes new sod and a small patio.  I can get the tomatoes planted and get the pots and flowers out ~ love, love, love.

Gypsy is watching the unloading of the rocks.
The work begins:

Our neighbors in the back (Raymond and Jackie) are getting married on Saturday in their back yard.  It is an all neighbor affair.  Kelly (next door) is making the cakes.  Sam (down on the corner) is going to officiate and sing.

Amy and I decided to get hanging baskets and flowers that we can either decorate our fence with or use at Jackie's wedding and we got her some flowers as wedding gifts.

Here are some of the hanging baskets.

Much love,
Leslie

Some Funnies......and More Plants

Amy is off to her happy place aka the Barn.  I am enjoying a very quiet Saturday ~ and I am not saying that Amy is noisy.

Blue, Loki and Gypsy where they all like to be

Some funnies, in case you missed them:

Some people are clearly talented!!!!!!!

And, more of my plants came from White Flower Farms.  Here is one of Mom's favorites:
Sweet Autumn Clematis.  She specifically planted it for Carole's wedding.

Much love,

The Tomatoes Have Arrived!!!!!

It has been a pretty nippy April.  But, the heirloom tomatoes just arrived!!!! I have the whiskey barrels and the dirt.  Now the planting.  Spring is here!!!!!

And an additional delivery....the first of two deliveries from White Flower Farm:

I cannot wait to get these in the ground!  I wanted some spectacular plants ~ something that you could not get locally and then I will fill in with local plants and perenials and some annuals.  And yes, I will send pictures!

Over the weekend, we got notice that a little boy named Sammy was celebrating his birthday and his Mom asked that people decorate the sidewalks in front of their houses.

Then, at 5 pm, Sammy and his parents came around. Granddad was pushing a little sibling in a stroller and Sammy was pushing a toy lawn mower.  I believe Sammy and Granddad had the most amazing time!  Of course, we sang the Thomas rendition of Happy Birthday, which is universally bad.  It was great!

A hummingbird!!!
And slowly, the hummingbirds find the feeder.  I guess it is still too chilly for them.

Big hugs to everyone!  I think about my family and my friends all the time.  I love the texting.  Torii has been sending a  Pic of the Day.  Which I like.  Stay safe and wash your hands!!!!

Love,
Leslie

Happy Thursday

I am waiting for our box of produce that is arriving today.  I joined a co-op and today we get aspharagus, apples, home made wheat bread, a sweet onion, strawberries and tomatoes. Oh and some Bibb lettuce.  Good dinner tonight!

Our yard has been marked by 811 so the back yard stuff is going to happen in the next couple of days.  And I ordered another Adirondack chair like Nancy got for me ~ so we will have 3 in the back yard.  This one is tourquose.  I love those chairs!

Check out what is coming up in my raised bed:

Check out the curly parsley that came back from last year!  I plant it for the butterfly larvae.

And today was bath day for the love bird.

And one year to the day, a hummingbird came to the hummingbird feeder ~ I guess he was a scout because he left ~ it also got very cold again, so hopefully in the next week or so the hummingbirds will be back.

Hope everyone is safe and wearing masks.  I wear mine and yes it makes my glasses fog up.  Still not used to it.  But, it is a new world.

Much love,
Leslie

April 11, 2020 Update

Good Morning!

I hope everyone is safe and sane.

I am looking at my laptop and notice that I am missing a key.  The bird pecked at it and took it.  I can't find it.  How on earth could it disappear?  I am blaming it on COVID-19.

Currently, not a lot is going on.  The pollen is extreme and the trees are green.  Amy and I are having some yard work done and we are waiting for it to start.  In order to support the stay at home order, I ordered some plants from White Flower Farm.  And I am waiting.......

So I will send photos when I have anything to show.

But, here is my Easter ~

This was a 6 hour project ~ Yes, you can go a bit crazy with sequestering.

Our neighbor, Rhonda, dryed up and salted some Kale ~ Amy says No.

Our little Dogwood tree

Much love,
