Getting the Jobs Done!

Today is Sunday and it is raining a little bit.  Which is great because we had two 80 degree days this week and I had to water some of the fragile plants!  And then, of course, it rained.

We have a bumper crop of pollen ~ too bad the genius minds of this country can't find a fabulous use for it!

You can see the nice mulching job and our new gate across the front porch.  I am very happy!

I got out in the back yard this morning and did some work before the rain started.  I got Jane's oak tree from Elon repotted and cleaned up some of the other pots and raised bed.

Amy is putting together a new desk so she can move her office into the dining room which I think is a great idea.

Loki is a bit freaked out and thinks we are moving.

And I am in charge of breaking down all the cardboard boxes. And there are a bunch of them.

On other fronts, Amy is feeling better ~ COVID really was not her friend ~ and she was finally able to start the process to get her passport so she can attend THE Royal Windsor Horse Show in London in May.  Of this year.  Well, apparently you have to get an appointment to turn in your documents if your passport is lost or expired.  And it is a much more tricky process and, as we found out, not very forth coming.

We had to go to the Clerk of Courts in Hillsborough and they sent us to Roxboro, who doesn't "do this" anymore.  So Amy sent a sad e-mail to the people in Hillsborough and contacted the State Department in DC so she could walk it thru.  Nope.  Not happening.  No appointments thru April.  But miracle of miracles, the Hillsborough people contacted Amy and said they would meet her at 9am Monday and take care of it.  Amy asked what kind of candy did the lady like (who was so helpful) and she said anything sour, so we got her 5 pounds of sour candy!!!

The town of Roxboro

And while I was watering, I was surprised by our first toad!!!!! Very exciting!!!!

And in the world of sports, my basketball brackets are completely busted.  Who picked Florida Atlantic, Miami or Creighton?  Not me.  Thank goodess Opening Day is Thursday!!!!

Ok, for anyone who reads this blog, I was sadly mistaken.  Maren's birthday is not in March...Carole and Tony's anniversary is!!!!!!! So, Happy Anniversary!!!!!

Love,

Leslie

Spring Start

Even though it is NOT technically Spring according to the calender, the very warm temperatures we are getting in the middle of the week is helping Spring signs appear.

However, for the weekend, winter likes to remind us that it is still here.  I have to bundle up and wear my winter shoes with socks when I am at my compost table.  Totally not right.

But, I have started gettings some wants done:  we are having a gate actually built to go across our front porch.  All of the really nice gates that we have bought do not hold up to use or weather.  So a real gate is being built.

I had Mr. Hernandez come out and edge the beds.  He was supposed to do it last year, but he ghosted me.  But this year ... Success!

He gets such a nice deep edge and I love it.  Next, Mr. MacAdoo is coming to trim, plant and mulch.  And help me move some pots that are heavy.  Mr. MacAdoo did all the planting around the house and he is a fabulous help.  Our yard is going to be gorgeous!

Amy is feeling better and working very hard.  I continue to do my bit for Jim and am counting down the days to Opening Day.  27 just so you know.

Much love,

Leslie
