Packing

It is amazing how much stuff expands when you are packing.  And I am keeping some and giving away some, or alot as the case may be.  But it seems to go on and on and on......

Tony sent the next photos of his trip with Jim Hibbert to the SF Giants baseball park for a season ticket owners event.  They got to do batting practise, shag flies and they both won $50.00 gift cards!  A fun time and they walk away with prizes!

Time to get moving.  Literally.

Have Junk??????

Image result for 1-800-got-junk

Here we go my dearest friends and family members.....the 1-800-Got-Junk guys will be here any minute.  I feel like we have a personal relationship with the guys ~ but they are so helpful!

This is the begining of the move to Burlington and by the way, I have gotten tons of great feedback about moving ~ how great Burlington is and all the great places to shop and eat.  It is smaller than Durham but that is considered a positive.  So I am excited about the change.

More later.

Look ~ they came with the same truck!!!!!! And they LOADED it up!!!!!!

Good News

Well, Amy just heard from the cable company and the house in Burlington does have the high speed download and upload that she needs to have in order to work!  She is very happy.

We have scheduled the movers and will be moving into the house on November 10th.  So everything is a go.

Our new address will be 4242 Aviemore Run, Burlington NC  27215.
I took miserable photos yesterday but they will have to do until we move in.  If you Google it, you can see better photos.

The kitchen and living room are all along the back of the house, with windows all the way down.  There is a deck that we may or may not screen.  Part of it is covered with a ceiling fan, so it will be nice to sit outside.  Amy is having a privacy fence installed, so the dogs will not have free rein for a couple of weeks.
The dining room connects off to the right and there is a nice laundry room and mud room,

The front of the house

A lovely gas fireplace ~ the windows are to the right.  My room is thru the open door to the left of Amy.
I promise to do better!

This is the house in Burlington that we have put a contract on.

4242 Aviemore Run, Burlington, NC 27215

We are planning to put a privacy fence up and we have been looking at options.  We also want to put a gate up on the porch like the house in Davidsonville.  It makes it alot easier with the dogs and the rushing out the door.

I am taking the furniture off the carpets so they can go to the cleaners, but the dogs are not exactly helping.

My next job is the attic.  I got in there yesterday and divided up the boxes ~ ones that are holiday decorations and ones that were from the attic in Davidsonville which I am going to open and see what is there ~ nothing good, I guarantee it.

Much love,
Leslie

More Saga.....

I know ~ this is probably MORE or TOO Much stuff about the house.  But, after alot of thinking and talking back and forth, we have cancelled the contract on the yellow house in our neighborhood.  There are just too many issues with the house and the concern of more problems that we have not uncovered.

So, we went back out to Burlington to see the new build in a very established neighborhood (they have 26 miles of side walks and lots of amenities) and we have decided to offer a contract on that house.  We will have two guest rooms upstairs (so there is room for company), Amy will have a master upstairs with her own bath, and there is another full bath upstairs plus a bonus room and a huge loft for Amy's office with tons of windows and natural light.  It has a north south facing.  I will have a downstairs master off the living room.

So we will wait and see what happens, but that is where we are right now.

Where is Burlington?  It is 40 minutes West of Durham.  Off I-85.  It is probably 10 minutes from Elon, 15 minutes from the Tanger Outlets ~ very convenient to Lori and Jim's.

Much love, Leslie

House Saga Continues

The house we have a contract on had a very not good inspection.  There are some issues that need to be fixed, including a water issue with the foundation.  The crawl space guy said that french drains need to be dug in the crawlspace (which is small) to move the water away from the wet foundation.  Now bear in mind, it has been a dry summer.  We think the drains that lead away from the house are clogged and that the water has no place to go from a year of sitting empty. Our realtor thinks this could be a money pit.

We had our house inspected yesterday that went from 2 to 5.  They were still there at 5:30 when I went home.  Amy was there because they had called her because they could not work the downstairs thermostat.

We saw that they had 3 little kids with them that skeeved the germaphobe out so she had to immediately wipe stuff down.  I didn't think anything about it until I went upstairs and saw that the kids must have had a free for all in my room.  Boxes open, books taken off the shelf and put around, things on my desk moved around ~ I was not happy.  And they left one of our back gates open.  Still not happy.

So we wait and see what our inspection says.  And we are going to see 3 properties today.  A house we liked in Burlington, a property in Graham that comes with 14 acres and a townhouse.  Or, everything will fall apart and we will stay in this house.

On the good side, we get Jane for her fall break that starts today!!!!!!!

New House

Here is the house.  104 River Run Road.  Amy went to the inspection today and it went well.  There is a small crawl space that is damp and will need to be fixed and the gutters probably need some work, but the house is sound.
It faces north, which is better than our current house ~ it faces east.  And we get a ton of sun from the west.  So I will like the new house better.
There is alot that will be going on in the next month and I will work to keep you all informed.

Love,
Leslie

House Update

Amy put a contract on the house in our neighborhood and of course, since it has sat on the market for a year, we think multiple contracts are going to be written.  There has been a big uptick in people going to see it.

So, we are going to see some new builds in Burlington.  Close to Elon, and about 40 minutes from Amy's barn so if we buy in Burlington, Jake will need to be moved.  Amy has contacts that say there are several private good barns in the area, so that is a relief.

So, I will let you know what happens.
