I think I can safely say that I am glad August is over. It was really hot ~ that was ok but at work I had to deal with an airconditioner that kept freezing over and a "mysterious" tenant who kept turning the thermostat on, so it could not unfreeze and thus be repaired. I threatened to have the thermostat taken off the wall so "everyone will be hot" and TA DA....the unit unfroze and could be fixed. Very annoying.
Amy had her thumb surgery yesterday. She injured the digit in a move by pulling out a box from overhead that was heavier than she thought. Shots, etc and finally decided to have the work done because it hurt all the time.

Pre-op with her surgeon. And yes, he put his initials on the thumb that was to be operated on. |
 |
Post-op with a diet coke. Please note the sign to the left saying "Do not take pictures....." Also, they were in a hot hurry to get Amy out and we forgot the blue foam cushion. Which was very helpful in keeping her hand up ~ so Amazon and $60.00 later she will have a new one.
She is supposed to stay in bed for 4 days and the cast will be on for 4 weeks. And OF COURSE her surgeon's last words to her (in the parking lot no less) were "Stay off the horse". We'll see how long that lasts.
This is what Amy used to take the hospital bracelet off her wrist. I went to walk her dogs and she could not wait for me to get her some scissors. Interestingly enough, I am not surprised.
In the interest of Hurricane Dorian, I am glad it will be weaker when we finally get the effects, but I am ready.
Jane came over with friends and her friend from Caifornia, Sarah.
We had dinner at everyone's most fav place, Radius Pizza and it was glorious outside, but we had to eat inside because of a pretty good thunderstorm. My caption application is not working now, so pictured is Nicole, Jane, Amy and Sarah.
Maren came over for Chinese.
And I took Amy to her most favorite place on earth, Maple View Farm for ice cream.

We are fortunate to have a next door neighbor, Rhonda, who is not only a very talented quilter, she is also a fabulous baker. The above quilt is one of 5 that Rhonda has made for her granddaughter, Elliot, who is due to be born in November. Gorgeous!
And the cake is Amy's favorite and Rhonda brought it over last night to help in Amy's recovery.
See you all in September!!!!!
Love, Leslie
