I had taken Mom up to bed, Bennett was on my bed, Melanie down on the den sofa. As I was putting the birds to bed, I heard a tree go down. I couldn't see anything in the darkness - but Melanie was barking her head off downstairs - she heard the tree go down. If it is a raccoon or a squirrel - what a watch dog! I went and got her and she settled down.
So this morning I went out to see the damage. Luckily, it didn't take anything out, except the fence and that is easy. I thought we might have lost some of the roses or the deck.

Here is the first view. I am standing in front of it and the house is behind me. |

I started cutting the branches that I could. |

Here is where you can see the bend in the fence. |
I cleaned it up - now we will get George and a chainsaw and then call the Long Fence guys to fix the fence. And then I trimmed the hydrangea plants - took the dead wood off - why stop.

Here are my trusty tools. |
One of the issues is Delta Dental. They are not accepting Mom's on-line payment - and Mom
TOLD Amy (on the phone) that she has been getting statements from Delta Dental, but she didn't understand them so SHE JUST THREW THEM AWAY!!!!!!!!!
Amy and I discussed this and feel that one of us should handle all the bills - Amy volunteered. Which I think is smart. So we get home and there is Mom, sitting with piles of Verizon paperwork - and I asked if she was having a problem. And, Mom said there was. And, of course, I had to add fuel to the fire - that is a pattern with me. Supposedly recognizing the problem and taking ownership moves you closer to recovery. NOT so much for me!!!!!!
I said to Mom "You know, we can take over these bills - we can help you" and Mom said to me "Are you going to give me an allowance?" Honestly. I told her that we could go over the bills and she could pay them - we would just assist. (Yes, I folded.)
Well - that is life at home. We will work it out. Deep sigh.
It is 5 o'clock somewhere. Enjoy!
Love,
Leslie
